This year, we sense God inviting West Church to go deeper.

Not because we believe something is missing.

In many ways, the opposite is true.

We are grateful for the health God has already given our church. We see people seeking Him, caring for one another, gathering for worship, lingering for prayer, having spiritual conversations, and growing in their desire to know Christ more fully.

That hunger is part of what has brought us here.

Going Deeper is our invitation to grow more intentionally in our relationship with God and with one another—to become more attentive to His presence, more prayerful in our daily lives, more honest before Him, and more open to the work He wants to do in us and through us.

Deep Roots. Visible Fruit.

Going deeper is not meant to become an inward journey that ends with us.

As we draw nearer to God, His Spirit forms us more fully into the likeness of Christ for the sake of others.

Deeper roots should bear visible fruit.

We want what God is doing in us to become evident in the way we pray, listen, forgive, serve, welcome, care, worship, and live among our neighbors.

This year, we will explore six areas of spiritual growth:

Humility
Coming before God honestly and allowing humility to open the way to repentance, obedience, and growth.

Prayer
Growing in honest, expectant, relational prayer—personally, together, and throughout the everyday life of our church.

Seeking
Learning to seek not only what God can give us, but God Himself—His presence, His wisdom, His direction, and His face.

Healing
Making room for confession, grace, restoration, forgiveness, and the healing work of God in our lives and relationships.

Worship
Allowing worship to shape more than our Sunday gatherings, becoming a posture of surrender, gratitude, reverence, and attentiveness in everyday life.

Relationship
Growing deeper with God and with one another, becoming a church where people are truly seen, known, prayed for, cared for, and formed together in Christ.

A Church That Prays

Prayer will be one of the clearest ways we practice Going Deeper.

We want prayer to become increasingly natural in the life of West Church—in worship, small groups, ministry meetings, pastoral care, homes, hallways, workplaces, neighborhoods, and ordinary conversations.

One simple question can help shape that culture:

How can I pray for you?

What if that became as natural among us as asking, “How are you doing?”

We want to learn to listen well, pray simply, follow up faithfully, and become more comfortable bringing one another before God.

We also want to keep asking:

How do you sense God at work in your life?

These are not merely questions.

They are invitations to notice God, care for one another, and make room for prayer to become part of the ordinary rhythm of our life together.

Draw Near. Pray Together. Live Sent.

Going Deeper will take shape across the whole life of West Church—in preaching and teaching, worship, prayer, small groups, family ministries, outreach, congregational care, and everyday relationships.

It will also move beyond the walls of the church.

As God forms us, we want to become more attentive to the people around us—our families, friends, coworkers, neighbors, frontlines, and front lawns.

We are not seeking depth simply so that we can know more.

We are asking God to make us more like Jesus.

And we are asking Him to do that for the sake of others.

Formed in the Deep

To help us live out this emphasis, West Church has created a new 40-day devotional:

Formed in the Deep: 40 Days of Becoming Like Christ for the Sake of Others

Each day includes Scripture, reflection, prayer, and three simple movements:

Draw Near.
Be Changed.
Live Sent.

The devotional can be used individually or with others, and a Small Group Guide is included for groups that want to walk through the forty days together.

Just Imagine

What might God do as we seek Him together?

What might happen if prayer becomes more natural among us?

What might change if we become more attentive to His presence, more willing to surrender, more ready to listen, and more open to the people He places in front of us?

We do not know exactly where God will lead us.

That is part of the invitation.

We simply want to come before Him with open hands and willing hearts.
